Remembering Linda Downey
The Oregon Hospice & Palliative Care Association mourns the loss of our longtime colleague and friend, Linda Downey, whose dedication to hospice and unwavering commitment to quality made a profound difference for hospice providers, patients, and families throughout Oregon.
A nurse for 50 years and a pioneer in hospice care, Linda held leadership positions with hospice programs across the state, including serving as Executive Director of Willamette Valley Hospice. She also served for a number of years on the OHPCA Board of Directors.
Linda later continued her work with OHPCA as a consultant, providing technical assistance and conducting accreditation surveys for hospice and palliative care providers throughout Oregon. A trusted and respected presence in our hospice community, she generously shared her knowledge and experience to help organizations strengthen the quality of care they provided.
Those of us who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside Linda are deeply grateful for all she gave to hospice care in Oregon. Her work strengthened countless professionals and organizations—and, through them, touched the lives of patients and families she would never personally know.
We extend our caring thoughts to Linda's family, friends, colleagues, and all those whose lives she touched.
